Orange Recreation Center Hosts 2nd Annual Co-Ed Alumni Volleyball Tournament

The Orange Recreation Center is thrilled to announce the return of its highly anticipated Co-Ed Alumni Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, November 16, 2024. Now in its second year, this event offers alumni and volleyball enthusiasts alike the perfect opportunity to rekindle team spirit, reconnect with former teammates, and enjoy a day filled with competitive fun and camaraderie.

Whether you played competitively or just for the thrill of the game, the tournament welcomes everyone aged 18 and up. Teams of up to nine players will have the chance to showcase their skills, with six players on the court and up to three substitutes per team. This year’s tournament promises to be a spirited, action-packed experience as teams vie for victory and bragging rights!

Celebrate the Season at the “Holiday in the Park” Festival & Classic Car Show

The City of West Orange is excited to invite the community to its annual Holiday in the Park Festival & Classic Car Show at 2700 Western Ave on Saturday, November 2, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This family-friendly celebration promises a day filled with holiday cheer, local crafts, delicious food, live music, and a showcase of classic cars—all with free admission!

Visitors to Holiday in the Park can browse a wide variety of craft and food vendors, making it the perfect opportunity to start holiday shopping early or enjoy tasty treats from the region’s best food trucks. Live music will provide festive entertainment throughout the day, creating an unforgettable atmosphere for the whole family.

Car enthusiasts won’t want to miss the classic car show, open to all with no registration fee. This year’s show will feature a range of awards, including Top Ten and the Mayor’s Choice, celebrating the best cars on display. Car owners are encouraged to bring their finest rides to share with the community.

14th Annual Scarecrow Festival Concludes with Fun-Filled Autumn Fair

Shangri La Botanical Gardens invites the community to experience the grand finale of the 14th Annual Scarecrow Festival with the highly anticipated Autumn Fair on Saturday, October 26, 2024. This exciting event, filled with free, family-friendly activities, marks the perfect way to celebrate the season amidst the beauty of nature.

The Autumn Fair kicks off at 10:30 a.m. and will feature a wide range of engaging activities, including:

  • Hayrides through the scenic gardens
  • A thrilling scavenger hunt for all ages
  • Pumpkin decorating for the creative at heart
  • The challenging Shangri La Gardens obstacle course
  • Outpost Tours along the serene Adams Bayou
  • And much more!

One of the day’s highlights will be the Scarecrow Winners Announcement at 2:00 p.m., celebrating the most creative scarecrow designs from this year’s festival. Autumn Fair activities will conclude at 3:00 p.m., but visitors are welcome to enjoy the gardens and explore the scarecrow displays until 5:00 p.m.

“The Scarecrow Festival has been a wonderful tradition, and we’re excited to wrap it up with a day full of autumn fun for the whole family,” said a representative from Shangri La Gardens. “The creativity on display with our scarecrows, combined with all the hands-on activities, makes this a must-visit event.”

8th Annual Historic Ghost Walk Set to Haunt Downtown Orange

The Heritage House Museum of Orange County is thrilled to announce the return of its popular 8th Annual Historic Ghost Walk, scheduled for Saturday, October 26, 2024. This spooky event, proudly sponsored by Ferguson Law Firm, invites visitors to experience the rich history of Orange, Texas, through eerie, true-life tales brought to life by students from four Orange County school districts.

This year’s Ghost Walk will offer two unique experiences:

  • Family-Friendly Tours: Tours run every 10 minutes from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., which is ideal for younger audiences and families looking for a historical yet light-hearted experience.
  • Fright Night Tours: For those seeking a more thrilling adventure, the Fright Night tours will depart every 10 minutes from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and offer spine-chilling tales in the darker hours.

Additionally, attendees can enjoy live music and food trucks from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., creating a festive atmosphere between the walking tours.

The Ghost Walk is a half-mile stroll through downtown Orange, rain or shine, where history meets the supernatural. Tickets are priced at $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12. Pre-sale tickets can be purchased on-site at the museum on Tuesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and Thursdays from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
