Experience the Magic at the Orange County Special Angels Rodeo

Get ready for a day full of joy, inclusion, and cowboy fun as the Orange County Special Angels Rodeo returns on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at T2 Arena & Event Center, located at 3810 Old Peveto Road in Orange. Starting at 10:00 a.m., this event promises an unforgettable rodeo experience that’s specially adapted for individuals with special needs of all ages. Best of all, everyone is welcome to join in the festivities!

The Special Angels Rodeo offers a full day of entertainment featuring carnival games, bounce houses, a mechanical bull, a petting zoo, and much more. It’s a unique opportunity for participants to enjoy a rodeo designed to be inclusive, safe, and fun for everyone. In addition to activities, attendees can explore service vendor booths and engage with the community in a welcoming atmosphere.

Shangri La Opens Fall Saturday Adventure Series

Join Botanical Gardens and Nature Center for family-friendly educational programs on select Saturdays during the fall. These programs are free of charge. With a wide range of topics, there is something for everyone.

First come, first served. Register online to secure your place in the program. November 9, 2024  Unbeatable Beaks

Birds can do the most amazing things with their beaks. Let’s discover how beaks of different shapes and sizes…..short, long, straight, curved… are adapted to help birds sip nectar, make nests, crack nuts and more!! Participants will enjoy this beakin’ good time as we learn that beaks are to birds what hands (and tools) are to humans. This SAS is inspired by Robin Page’s The Beak BookRegister online here beginning October 28, 2024. 

November 16, 2024  Let’s Move

Let’s Move! Join us for some playful fun as we experience yoga, movement, and song in a quest to Move Like the Animals in the Forest! Participants will also make animal masks to continue the forest fun at home. (Book by Marie-Luise Weiss). Register online here beginning November 4, 2024.

November 23, 2024  Leaf Thief

Who stole the squirrel’s leaf? Let’s find out about the changing seasons in this fun tale! Participants will have fun celebrating the fall through a variety of leaf-related activities and crafts. This SAS is inspired by Alice Hemming’s The Leaf Thief. Register online here beginning November 11, 2024.

15th Annual Gulf Coast Cajun Festival Set for October 19

The 15th Annual Gulf Coast Cajun Festival will take place on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM at VFW Post 2775 – All American Post, located at 5303 N. 16th Street (Hwy 87) in Orange, TX. This highly anticipated event promises a day filled with live music, delicious Cajun cuisine, and a variety of fun activities for the whole family—all for a great cause.

Festivalgoers can look forward to live performances from Donovan Bourque & Friends and Tory Lejeune & Cajun Revue, as well as signature Cajun dishes such as jambalaya and gumbo. Additional entertainment will include a cake walk, live auction, and much more!

Admission is $8 per person or $15 per couple, and children 12 and under get in free. Proceeds from the event will benefit several local charitable programs, including scholarships, Special Angels, Cops and Kids, and Blue Santa.

Come out and enjoy a full day of Cajun music, food, and fun while supporting these important community initiatives!

Orange Fire Department to Host Annual Open House on October 14

The Orange Fire Department is excited to invite the community to its annual Open House event on Monday, October 14, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Central Fire Station, located at 501 N. 7th Street. This free, family-friendly event offers a fun and engaging opportunity to meet your local firefighters, explore the fire station, and enjoy a range of exciting activities for all ages.

Attendees can look forward to:

  • Fire Station Tours
  • Kids Agility Course
  • Bounce House
  • Crafts
  • Hot Dogs, Popcorn, and Drinks
  • Door Prizes (Register upon entry)

This is the perfect chance for families to learn more about fire safety, meet the brave men and women of the Orange Fire Department, and have fun together! The event is completely free, and no registration is required. Simply stop by and enjoy the festivities.
