in Arts

Join the Stark Museum of Art and Curator Sarah E. Boehme to view a painting of Early Texas history. This program will take place on Thursday, October 26, 2023, from Noon to 1 p.m.

Dr. Boehme will introduce the Stark Museum’s new acquisition, “Indian Council, Tehuacana Creek,” Texas, by John Mix Stanley. The painting is an eyewitness account of a council during the time of the Republic of Texas. It provides an opportunity to examine Early Texas relations with indigenous peoples along with Stanley’s artistic development. Advanced registration is required for this FREE program. Registration will close on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at 9:00 a.m.

This Lunch & Look @ Home program will be facilitated live through Zoom from the Stark Museum of Art in Orange, Texas. Participants are encouraged to download Zoom prior to the event. For more information, including tutorials for using Zoom, please visit the Resources page on the Zoom website.
