Registration for Returning WOS Students Opens July 29

WOCCISD Teachers Receive a Raise

Online registration for ALL returning WOS students for the 2019-2020 school year will open Monday, July 29 and continue through August 9. The primary parent/guardian of every currently enrolled student must complete the online process for their student or students before the school year begins in order for the student to receive a classroom teacher assignment and/or schedule.

To register, log into the WOCCISD FAMILY ACCESS parent portal and select the tab in the upper left corner for “online registration.”

The Parent Portal and additional information regarding Family Access are available at https://www.woccisd.net/.

West Orange-Cove School District Announces New School District Police Department and Hires New Chief

WOCCISD Teachers Receive a Raise

West Orange-Cover School District has established a new school district police department. Darryl Hunt was announced as Police Chief at last night’s regular meeting of the WOC Board of Trustees. He was sworn in today by Orange County Justice of the Peace Hershel Stagner Jr.

“After a long extensive search for a police chief, we feel that we have found the best candidate in Chief Hunt. He will assist the district in developing a police department in which all WOCCISD stakeholders can be proud. Additionally, we look forward to continuing our wonderful relationships with our local police departments as we serve the students of this great community,” Dr. Rickie Harris, WOCCISD Superintendent, said.

He will officially begin duties July 29.

Orangefield Schools Announce Opening Dates and Changes

Orangefield ISD will have new start times for the 2019-2020 school year.

The adjustments will assist in alleviating some of the traffic and logistical challenges with the transition of 5th-grade students moving from junior high to elementary campus. Students can be dropped off at the elementary and junior high starting at 7:15 AM and the high school at 7:25 AM. All the details can be seen at http://www.orangefieldisd.com/district/news.

In addition, Orangefield Junior High will hold a Meet the Teachers event on Monday, August 12.

Little Cypress and Mauriceville Elementary Schools Now Offer Full-Day Pre-K Classes

According to KOGT Radio, Little Cypress and Mauriceville Elementary Schools will begin providing full-day classes for qualifying pre-kindergarten (pre-k) students to comply with new state regulations. Student registration for the program will be July 30, 31 or August 1, at the campus which they will attend. Even though the class extension time is stipulated by new regulations, this move to full-time Pre-K will be a godsend to working parents and enable those with multiple children enrolled in school to more easily coordinate school schedules.
