Orange Public Library Celebrating Read Aloud Day

The Orange Public Library will be recognizing World Read Aloud Day, Wednesday, February 5th, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. In recognition, the Library will have a designated area for anyone interested to sit and read aloud… to friends, family, library staff and other patrons. The Library will have a selection of materials available, but patrons may bring or find in the library, a family-friendly selection (poems, chapters, short books, speeches, etc.) of their choice, to read aloud.

Can’t make it by the Library? Read aloud at home, work, or wherever you happen to be. Post pictures and tag #WorldReadAloudDay, @Scholastic, @LitWorldSays.

25th Annual Community Trash-Off Scheduled for February 22

The 25th annual Community Trash-Off is scheduled for Saturday, February 22, 2020, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the City of Orange Boat Ramp, located on Simmons Drive in Orange, Texas. This year’s Community Trash-Off is presented by INVISTA and hosted by Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center in collaboration with the City of Orange and Keep Orange County Beautiful.

Orange County residents are encouraged to take pride in the community and help clean up trash from area neighborhoods and waterways. Keep Orange County Beautiful will be accepting old tires from 8 a.m.-12 p.m.  Gather your team to help clean the streets and waterways of the Orange, West Orange and Pinehurst communities. For participants, lunch is provided.

Teams will consist of 3-5 volunteers and will be assigned to an area to clean up. Clean-up stations are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Groups are encouraged to sign up early. On the day of the event, team leaders can pick up supplies at the park for use at their assigned clean-up sites. Call 409.670.9113 for more details.

7th Annual Bloomin' Crazy Plant Fair Scheduled

The Orange County Master Gardeners are holding their 7th Annual Bloomin’ Crazy Plant Fair on Saturday, March 14, 2020, 8 AM – 1 PM at Cormier Park, 8235 FM 1442, Orangefield.

Hundreds of nursery and member grown plants will be for sale including many varieties of citrus, berries, Texas Superstars, perennials, natives, annuals, house, and tropicals along with succulents, lilies and many other hard to find and unusual plants.

Plant specialists and members will be available to answer questions and to assist you in selecting your plants. Specialty booths will be set up with unique gardening and craft items.
