Experience the Lutcher Theater by Candlelight

The Lutcher Theater is proud to announce its inaugural Candlelight Concert Series featuring The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra, scheduled for February 24 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will provide guests an unforgettable evening of live music and ambiance, creating the perfect setting for a romantic date night.

Hundreds of flickering candles will illuminate the theater, casting a warm glow that sets the stage for an intimate and captivating experience. Guests will be treated to the timeless sounds of The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra, renowned for their dynamic performances spanning jazz, swing and American standards.

The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra, led by Jeremy Davis and Clay Johnson, has captivated audiences across the nation with their infectious energy and exceptional musical talent. From classic jazz standards to contemporary hits, their repertoire guarantees something for everyone to enjoy.

“The Candlelight Concert Series at the Lutcher Theater offers patrons a chance to experience the venue in a fresh way and enjoy live music from exceptional artists at a reduced ticket price,” said Sanford.

Little Women: The Broadway Musical Comes to Lutcher Theater

Lutcher Theater is pleased to announce the much-anticipated arrival of “Little Women: The Broadway Musical” on Thursday, February 15, 2024,  at 7:30 p.m. Based on Louisa May Alcott’s beloved novel, this cherished story promises an unforgettable, wholesome theatrical experience for audiences of all ages.

Following the timeless tale of the March sisters – Jo, Meg, Beth, and Amy – as they navigate the challenges of love, ambition, and sisterhood against the backdrop of the Civil War era, “Little Women: The Broadway Musical” brings to life the cherished characters and heartwarming moments that have captivated readers for generations.

“We are thrilled to welcome ‘Little Women: The Broadway Musical’ to the Lutcher Theater stage,” said Lynae Sanford, executive director of the Lutcher Theater. “This production offers a beautiful tribute to Louisa May Alcott’s enduring classic, and we are delighted to share this unforgettable journey with our audience.”

Filled with stunning music, this Tony Award-nominated adaptation has been celebrated for its poignant storytelling, stirring melodies, and rich character development. From the spirited ambition of Jo to the tender bonds of family that unite the March sisters, “Little Women” resonates with audiences around the world with its classic themes of love, resilience and the pursuit of dreams.

The community is invited to make it a night with the March sisters by attending a free pre-show talk, “Withstanding the Test of Time,” at The W.H. Stark House, where Rayanna Hoeft, director and historian, will discuss the relevancy of Little Women to contemporary audiences. “Withstanding the Test of Time” will begin at 6:30 p.m. Space is limited, so please register online at whstarkhouse.org.

Orange Community Players to Present “Love is in the Air”

Orange Community Players will present Love is in the Air, a music review for friends and lovers, on Friday and Saturday, February 15-16 from 6:30 PM – 10 PM at the Orange Train Depot Museum at 1210 Green Ave. in Orange.

Doors open at 6:30 for wine and hors d’oeuvres, and showtime is 7:37 PM. Desserts will be served at intermission.

Single tickets are $45, and couple tickets are $80.

W.H. Stark House Hosts Mask-Making Workshop

Create your own piece of history at The W.H. Stark House. A Historical Craft Workshop: Masquerade Mask will be held on February 6, 2024, from 6-8 p.m.

Guests will enjoy a brief history lesson of masquerade balls and then make a Mardi Gras-themed masquerade mask to take home. Register today, as space is limited to 25 attendees.

This event is recommended for ages 10 through adults. Children under 17 must be accompanied by an adult, and all attendees must register.

Stark Museum to Host Family Day January 27

Create memories and masterpieces in the new year at the Stark Museum of Art’s Family Day event on Saturday, January 27m, 2024, from 10 AM – 2 PM. Families are invited to explore the museum and experience art together through fun activities planned for children of all ages. Admission to the event is free of charge.

Young artists and their grown-ups can utilize their creativity while participating in activities that engage multiple senses and discover connections to the artwork on view throughout the museum. Family Day activities Include:

  • Brand new Digital Gallery Scavenger Hunt
  • Art-making activities and crafts for the whole family, including a Tot Spot play and art-making area designed for ages five and under
  • Local artist Calvin Carter as he sketches art in the gallery
  • New special exhibit, “ART: It’s Elementary,” showcasing local elementary students in the Community Art Gallery. Celebrate the artists during the Recognition Ceremony at 2 p.m.
  • Photos in the Family Day Photo Spot in the lobby
  • Special family-friendly activities led by the Orange Train Depot Museum, Shangri La Gardens, The W.H. Stark House, and more
