Fifth Annual ART: It’s Elementary Now on Display at Stark Art Museum

The Fifth Annual ART: It’s Elementary exhibition is NOW on view through March 9. 2024, at the Stark Museum of Art, 712 Green Ave. in Orange. The exhibition features original works of art from kindergarten through third-grade student artists in Region 5, Texas, and Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana.

There will be a celebration of their student artists at a Recognition Ceremony on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 2 p.m. in conjunction with Family Day. All student artists in the exhibition will be recognized and presented with an award ribbon during the ceremony.

Stark Museum Hosting Intro to Printmaking Class

The Stark Museum of Art is inviting children to become a printmaker. During this four-week class, 5th-8th grade students will learn how to create multiple prints of original drawings using two different printmaking techniques.

Students will learn how to properly use and identify printmaking tools, register and label prints, and use a printing press! The class will culminate with a matted 5″x 7″ print that students will be proud to display.

Registration is $40 per student, and students will complete the class with a printmaking kit.

This four-week class will meet beginning January 17, 2024, from 5:00-6:00 p.m. Students may be assigned some brief at-home assignments during the class that will reinforce the instruction given in the studio. Class size is limited to allow one-on-one time with our Teaching Artist.

Stark Museum Hosting Adult One-Point Perspective Drawing Class

Discover the secrets to creating dynamic and three-dimensional images utilizing a one-point perspective. During this three-week class, participants will learn the fundamental rules of one-point perspective, draw simple scenes, and understand the implementation of these concepts in their art practice. Participants will complete a final 8″ x 10″ drawing demonstrating their new skills and abilities.

This three-day class will meet on Wednesday afternoons starting January 17, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Brief at-home assignments may be given during the workshop that will reinforce the instruction given in the studio. Class size is limited to a maximum of 10 participants.

Christmas in Orangefield to Be Held on December 16

The Orangefield Fine Arts Boosters will host Christmas in Orangefield on Saturday, December 16, 2023. Events include music, local vendors, visits with Santa, and Christmas performances.

Specific events during the day include:

  • Christmas Parade at 10 AM from Orange Oilfield Supply to OJHS
  • Car Show from 11 AM – 2 PM in the OES parking lot
  • Vendors and performances from 11 AM – 3 PM at OHS Stadium
  • Pictures with Santa from 11 AM – 1 PM at OHS Stadium

Christmas in Orangefield is the Orangefield Fine Arts Boosters’ annual Scholarship Fundraiser. The Boosters proudly support the OHS Band, Colorguard, Choir, and Sophisticats.

Inclement Weather Plans From the Organizers:

We are keeping a close eye on the weather for Saturday, and we hope that it clears up so that we can continue with our planned event. However, we want to let you know our weather plan in case we have to make changes. We will make a final decision by 8 am Saturday morning and will post on our event page what we will be doing.

If we have to follow our weather plan, it will be as follows:

  • Food Trucks: Park Near the front of the Junior High School
  • Vendors: We will line them up in the Junior High School Hallway.
  • Car Show: Cancelled
  • Parade: Cancelled
  • Performers: Cancelled
