After six flavorful years serving the Orange community, Tacos “La Shula” will officially close for business on Friday, June 13, 2025. Located at 5602 Highway 87, near the Little Cypress-Mauriceville school campuses, the popular drive-through eatery has become known for its birria tacos, quesadillas, burritos, homemade tortillas, and street tacos.
Owners Chris Chapman and Zilpa Plascencia shared the bittersweet news while reflecting on the business’s journey, which began with their first location on West Park Avenue. The original site was forced to close due to roof damage caused by Hurricane Laura. The couple then relocated to 1720 Lutcher Drive, now home to Barry’s Greek Grill, before eventually settling into their current location on Highway 87.
“We would like to take a moment to express our deepest appreciation to all of our loyal supporters who have stood by us for the past six years,” said Chapman and Plascencia. “This journey has been filled with lifelong memories, which we will forever be grateful and thankful to all of you for. To the City of Orange—THANK YOU.”
Tacos “La Shula” leaves behind more than just the aroma of slow-cooked birria — it leaves behind a legacy of resilience, hard work, and heartfelt connections with the community it served.
Residents are encouraged to stop by before June 13 to enjoy one last taste and share their appreciation with the owners.
