Stark Museum to Offer Afterschool Art Program

in Arts

The Stark Museum of Art will be offering an Afterschool Art Program: Fundamentals of Pencil Drawing for students in grades 5-8.

During this four-week class, students in 5th-8th grade will learn the fundamentals of pencil drawing. Students will learn how to properly hold a pencil, how to draw and shade, and create realistic textures using only a pencil. The class will culminate with a matted 11×14 Still Life pencil drawing that students will be proud to display.

This four-week class will provide a solid skill base for your young artist to advance their ability and deepen their love of drawing. Class size is limited to a maximum of 10 students. Registration is $40 per student, and all materials are provided.

This four-week class will meet from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and will focus on specific skill building. Students may be assigned some brief at-home assignments during the course of the class that will reinforce the instruction that is given in the studio. Class size is limited to 10 students to allow one-on-one time with our Teaching Artist. All materials needed for the class are included in the $40 class.
