The Stark Museum of Art is excited to announce the opening of A Time Before Texas, a dynamic and immersive exhibition now on view in the Community Art Gallery through November 1, 2025. This unique exhibition explores the lives of the first people to inhabit the region we now know as Texas, combining new archaeological discoveries with cultural traditions to bring early history to life.
Developed by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and presented in partnership with Humanities Texas, A Time Before Texas draws on recent research into Paleoindian migration and settlement patterns, offering visitors a captivating look into Texas’ distant past.
Exhibition features include:
- An eight-panel interpretive display
- A Digital Interactive Table
- An Interactive Drawing Station
- A fun and educational Scavenger Hunt for all ages
In addition, visitors are invited to a special hands-on program: “History & Art You Can Hold,” taking place on July 23 and August 6 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. No registration is required—just drop in to handle carved stone replicas and engage with history like never before.
