The Stark Museum of Art is thrilled to invite families and art lovers alike to a magical opening reception for its latest exhibition, “Childhood Classics: 100 Years of Original Illustration from the Art Kandy Collection,” on Friday, March 7, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. This special evening offers FREE admission and a host of delightful activities celebrating the rich history of children’s book illustrations.

About the Exhibition
Visitors to “Childhood Classics” will step into the pages of some of the most beloved children’s stories, with original illustrations from legendary books such as:
- Dr. Seuss, Where the Wild Things Are (Maurice Sendak), Stuart Little (Garth Williams)
- Classic illustrators including Rosemary Wells, Richard Scarry, Arnold Lobel, and Hilary Knight
- Special exclusive additions from The Poky Little Puppy and The Silver Dollar by Orange’s own Janette Sebring Lowrey, from The Kerlan Collection of Children’s Literature at The University of Minnesota
Curated by Lee Cohen and Lois Sarkisian in association with Landau Traveling Exhibitions, this collection brings to life over a century of children’s book artistry. The exhibition will be on view at the Stark Museum of Art from March 8 – July 12, 2025.
