The Stark Museum of Art is excited to announce its third annual College Juried Art Exhibition, taking place from November 9, 2024, to December 20, 2024. The exhibition will feature original artwork by college and university students from Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana, with a focus on showcasing the creativity and talent of emerging artists in the region.
The exhibition in the Community Art Gallery at the Stark Museum of Art is open to students currently enrolled in colleges and universities in Orange County, TX, Jefferson County, TX, and Calcasieu Parish, LA. The event offers an exciting platform for these students to present their work to the public, with the opportunity to win prizes for their outstanding achievements.
A panel of Stark Museum of Art jurors will select the award winners. The following prizes, sponsored by BLICK Art Materials, will be awarded:
- Best of Show: $500 gift certificate for art supplies
- Two Honorable Mentions: $100 gift certificate for art supplies each
Important Submission Details:
- Deadline for Submissions: October 20, 2024, at 11:59 p.m.
Submissions must include a completed registration form, artist statement, and artwork images emailed to rjohns@starkmuseum.org. - Juried Process: Artwork will be juried digitally, with acceptance notifications sent by October 23, 2024, at 5:00 p.m.
- Artwork Drop-off: Selected works must be delivered to the Stark Museum of Art, framed and ready to hang, on November 7, 2024, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Artist Reception:
An Artist Reception will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., in conjunction with the Museum’s “Date Night at the Museum.” During the reception, attendees will have the opportunity to meet the artists, enjoy refreshments, and celebrate the announcement of the award winners.
Additional Resources:
To support artists in their submissions, digital resources for writing artist statements and framing guidelines will be available starting September 20, 2024. Artists whose work is accepted are encouraged to review these resources to ensure their pieces meet the exhibition’s framing standards.
