Art quilts in “Black Pioneers: Legacy in the American West” illuminate the stories of African Americans who served their country in the United States Army. Join Stark Museum of Art curator Dr. Sarah Boehme as she explores how artistic representations have preserved the history of the military staffers who became known as “buffalo soldiers.” Participants will look at quilts from the exhibition and rare, earlier examples in the art of Frederic Remington and William Herbert Dunton.
This program will be held in person at our Walter G. Riedel III Education Center on Friday, July 26, 2024, from noon – 1 PM. The museum is located at 712 Green Ave. in downtown Orange.
Participants are invited to bring lunch to enjoy during the presentation. Admission is FREE.
