The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has announced that the Rainbow Bridge will be closed for maintenance beginning March 21, 2025, weather permitting. During the closure, all traffic will be detoured to the Veterans Memorial Bridge, which will accommodate two lanes in each direction to ensure a smooth traffic flow.
To support the detour, a temporary westbound route has been constructed on the west side of the Veterans Memorial Bridge for vehicles traveling into Port Arthur.
The Rainbow Bridge Maintenance Project is expected to take approximately 18 months to complete. Motorists are advised to plan for delays, follow posted detour signs, and use caution in the construction zone.
