Orange Police Department Warns of Arrest Scam

The Orange Police Department wants to inform its citizens of an ongoing “Scam” investigation.

On Wednesday, July 19, 2023, the Orange Police Department received a complaint of a scam. The complainant reported a phone call was received stating a relative was arrested and in custody in the Houston, Texas, area.

The scammer stated cash was required for the bond and release of the relative. After the complainant retained the requested amount of cash, the scammer stated a third party would come to the victim’s home to collect the cash.

This incident is currently being investigated by the Criminal Investigations Division.

Please independently check with any relative or person who has been reported to be arrested to determine the validity of the claim before taking any other action.
