Keep Orange County Beautiful presented the Keep Orange County Beautification Award to Mr. and Mrs. Dean Schirmer of 1713 West Ave. in West Orange on November 18, 2022.
This beautiful home at 1713 Western Ave. in West Orange was established in 1901, long before the incorporation of the City of West Orange. This makes it one of the
oldest, if not the oldest, home still in existence in the City of West Orange.
Mr. and Mrs. Dean Schirmer purchased the dilapidated home in 2010 and have been refurbishing the home since then. The Schirmers restored the home with the intent to keep as much of its originality as possible, and that they did with its beadboard ceilings, shiplap walls, crown molding and so much more.
