CVS Pharmacy has announced that its location at 485 Texas Ave. in Bridge City will permanently close in September. Locals say the last day open will be September 9. While the news comes as a disappointment to many local customers, CVS is committed to continuing high-quality service to the community until its final day of operation.
This closure is part of CVS Health’s broader plan to close 270 stores in 2025 as part of an enterprise-wide restructuring initiative designed to streamline operations and better align with evolving consumer health needs and trends. Although the Bridge City location was not on the initial closure list released in May, the company has since reevaluated based on factors such as population changes, consumer shopping patterns, and the future of healthcare delivery.
“We know this might not be the news you wanted to hear, but we will continue to provide the best customer service to the Bridge City community until our last day,” said a CVS representative.
At this time, no future tenant has been announced for the building at 485 Texas Ave.
In its most recent Annual Report, CVS Health emphasized that while some stores are closing, the company is simultaneously developing new store formats to better serve consumers. These include:
- Primary care-focused locations
- Enhanced HealthHUBs for everyday wellness needs
- Traditional pharmacy stores in strategic locations
The goal is to create more efficient operations and deliver a more impactful healthcare experience for customers nationwide.
Customers in the Bridge City area are encouraged to contact nearby CVS locations or visit www.cvs.com to manage prescriptions, transfer services, or locate the nearest store.
