City of Orange Accepting Applications for 2025–2026 HOT Grant Program

The City of Orange Hotel/Motel Tax Committee is now accepting applications for its Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) Grant Program from qualified non-profit 501(c) organizations within the City of Orange. This funding opportunity supports activities and events that drive tourism and directly benefit the local hotel and convention industry.

Applications will be accepted from May 19, 2025, through July 18, 2025, at 5:00 P.M., for activities and events scheduled between October 1, 2025, and September 30, 2026.

The program is authorized under Section 351.101(b) of the Texas Tax Code, which stipulates that hotel occupancy tax revenue may be used only to promote tourism and the hotel/convention sector. Non-profit organizations that attract visitors to the City of Orange are encouraged to apply.

Funding may be used in the following seven statutory categories:

  1. Funding, improvement, or maintenance of a convention center or visitor information center
  2. Paying administrative costs for facilitating convention registration
  3. Advertising, solicitations, and promotions that attract tourists and convention delegates
  4. Expenditures that promote the arts
  5. Historical restoration or preservation projects
  6. Hosting sporting events that significantly increase hotel occupancy
  7. Tourist signage directing visitors to frequently visited attractions
