LCM Education Foundation Distributes $50,000 in Grants

For 20 years, the LCM Education Foundation has raised funds aimed at enhancing the educational experience of students at LCMCISD. Established in 2002 by patrons of LCM, the Foundation hosts community-wide events such as the Beary Merry Christmas Market–which will be held in NOVEMBER this year–and the Legacy 5K Color Run.

This year’s Grants to Educators totaled more than $50,000.00, bringing the overall amount raised by the Foundation to more than $350,000.00. Please join us in expressing our sincere thanks to the hardworking members of the Foundation. Your tireless effort and devotion to the students and staff of LCM make us so very proud to #beabear!!

Lamar State College Orange Tuition Capped by TSUS Board of Regents

Congratulations to this year’s Lamar State College Orange NISOD Excellence Award Winners. Each year, LSCO awards certain Faculty and Staff the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Excellence Award.

This year’s recipients include:

The National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Excellence Award program was established in 1991 to provide NISOD member colleges with an opportunity to recognize faculty and staff doing extraordinary work on their campuses. Since then, more than 25,000 recipients have been honored with the award by their colleges.

Honor Society Selects LSCO Student for National Scholarship

Phi Theta Kappa, the national honor society for two-year colleges, has selected Lamar State College Orange Licensed Vocational Nursing student, Abhijett Joyce, as a 2022 Trustmark Workforce Development Scholar.

Ms. Joyce will receive a $200 scholarship which is designed to assist active Phi Theta Kappa members in navigating the transition from college to the workforce.

Joyce is from Silsbee, TX, and is in the process of applying to LSCO’s Transition to Registered Nursing Program.

TSUS Foundation Announces LSCO’s Becky McAnelley as 2022 Regents’ Staff Excellence Award Winner

The Texas State University System (TSUS) Foundation announced the winners of the 2022 Regents’ Professor, Teacher, Staff Excellence, and Student Scholar Awards at the TSUS Board of Regents meeting in Austin.

Rebecca “Becky” McAnelley, Assistant Dean of Student Services and Registrar at Lamar State College Orange, received the Regents’ Staff Excellence Award.

The award recognizes staff who excel in six areas: commitment to the college and its mission; job competency; collegiality; duration of service; community involvement; and exceptional achievement.
McAnelley has worked at LSCO for over 35 years. She began as a student assistant and has since served in roles such as Recruiter; Assistant Registrar; Director of Admissions, Recruitment, and Registrar; and now, Assistant Dean of Student Services.

“This Regents’ Staff Excellence Award is a high honor. One employee is selected from the entire Texas State University System to be honored with this career-milestone achievement. We couldn’t be more thrilled for Becky to receive this award and we couldn’t be more in agreement of how deserving she is of this recognition,” said LSCO President Dr. Tom Johnson.

“Becky McAnelley represents the highest excellence that our System has to offer. She is a valued colleague who has devoted her entire career to Lamar State College Orange, changing the lives of students, staff, and faculty in the process. We are grateful to Becky for all she does and has done for our college,” said LSCO Provost and Executive Vice President Dr. Wendy Elmore.

Regents’ Professor, Student Scholar, and Staff Excellence award winners will be formally recognized at the November 2022 Board of Regents meeting in San Marcos.

St. Mary Catholic School Hosting 3rd Annual Gala on September 10

It’s time to roll out the red carpet! The 3rd Annual St. Mary Catholic School Gala will be held Saturday, September 10, 2022, at the Orange County Convention & Expo Center, 11475 FM 1442 in Orange.

This year’s theme will be “Old Hollywood Magic.”  Guest speaker will be Mr. Paul Trevino, President & CEO of CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Health System,
