Bridge City Chamber of Commerce to Host National Night Out 2024 and Blood Drive

The Bridge City Chamber of Commerce is excited to invite the entire community to participate in National Night Out 2024 on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bridge City Park, located at 105 Parkside Dr. in Bridge City.

This FREE family event celebrates local first responders and strengthens the bond between law enforcement and the community. Attendees will enjoy food, drinks, and entertainment – all at no cost!

In addition, there will also be a blood drive from 4:30 – 8 PM.

National Night Out is an annual nationwide event promoting police-community partnerships and camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer and more caring places to live. Bridge City is proud to be part of this effort and looks forward to celebrating with our local community.

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension to Host Free “Cooking with Friends in the Garden” Class on September 28

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office is excited to invite adults in the community to a free hands-on cooking class, “Cooking with Friends in the Garden,” on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 10:00 AM. The class will be held at the Field of Plenty Garden at 2120 Wickard, Orange (behind Orange Christian Services).

This interactive class will focus on cooking with fresh vegetables harvested from the Field of Plenty Garden, led by Fallon White, M.P.H., County Extension Agent for Family and Community Health. Attendees will learn to prepare delicious, nutritious meals using locally-grown produce while enjoying a fun, social environment.

Stark Museum of Art to Host Adult Studio Workshop on Shading and Texture in Pencil

The Stark Museum of Art is pleased to announce a new Adult Studio Workshop for aspiring and experienced artists. The “Shading and Texture in Pencil” workshop will run for three consecutive Wednesdays on October 2nd, 9th, and 16th, from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM.

This hands-on workshop will help participants develop and refine their pencil shading skills, learn value control, and master techniques for creating a variety of textures in pencil drawings. Throughout the three-week class, students will practice achieving the illusion of texture on a 2D surface and will complete a 9″x12″ drawing by the end of the course.

Participants will gain skills that can enrich their work across various media by learning how to add depth and complexity through texture. Optional at-home assignments will be offered to reinforce what is learned in the studio.

Orange is about to welcome its newest full-service salon, Growth Hair Studio, owned by Madison Alaniz. Set to provide a wide range of beauty and wellness services, Growth Hair Studio is proud to announce its team of professional, passionate, and driven stylists and specialists.

Madison Alaniz expressed her excitement about this new venture: “These girls are professional, down to earth, and ready to work. I clicked with all of them instantly and knew this was what I had been waiting for.”

Stark Museum of Art to Host Cartoon Self-Portrait Workshop on October 19th

The Stark Museum of Art is excited to announce an upcoming CREATE! Workshop, during which participants can create their very own Cartoon Self-Portrait. The workshop will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

This hands-on workshop is designed for adults and children ages 7 and up, making it a perfect creative activity for families or individuals. Attendees will explore their artistic skills by drawing fun and whimsical cartoon versions of themselves.

The $5 material fee includes all materials, and participants will be guided step-by-step through the process of creating their unique self-portrait.
