The City of Orange Adopt-a-Spot program encourages citizen and organization participation in beautification projects in Orange to make the city an attractive place in which to live, work, and play.

Recently, Lamar State College Orange participated in the program by commissioning a mural at the Student Center on campus. The mural features the former Tilley Elementary School, where Lamar University first opened its doors for a campus in Orange, and its namesake, William “Bill” Tilley. Also featured are oranges for which the community is named, LSCO mascot Tilley the Gator, and the slogan “Where Hope Meets Opportunity.”
