in Arts
Lutcher Theater Postponing and/or Rescheduling Events

The current mission of the Lutcher Theater is for patrons to safely enter the doors of the theater again! In the meantime, during this COVID-19 “longest intermission EVER”, until it’s safe to have shows again, there are some exciting offerings for theater lovers and the Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana communities.

“Typically, at intermission, we stand and stretch our legs, grab refreshments, connect with others & learn, as we read our playbills or visit with neighbors,” says Lynae Sanford, Managing Director. “We’d like to offer our patrons those same opportunities with our Project EnterMISSION.”

Project EnterMISSION is a four-part initiative that offers the following invitations to the Lutcher community:

Stand – Stand strong and stretch with us as we offer a different approach to programming during this time.

Refresh – Savor our social media and subscribe to our YouTube channel for a series of fun and compelling Lutcher Theater stories and behind-the-scenes episodes.

Connect – Join us as we help those in need with community service projects.

Learn – Engage in arts-integrated educational activities designed for your students and the entire family to enjoy.

Examples of offerings this season will include live streaming, virtual and outdoor events, original YouTube episodes, social media contests, community service project partnership, and fun and unique educational resources.

Follow Lutcher Theater at Lutcher.org and on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to stay informed of upcoming events.

The Lutcher Theater is a 1500-seat, state-of-the-art, world-class performing arts facility and the prominent presenter of Broadway, national and international tours, award-winning artists, renowned dance, and acclaimed children’s performances for Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana. Updated: Lutcher Theater Closed Until Further Notice

in Arts/Coronavirus Updates/Events
Lutcher Theater Postponing and/or Rescheduling Events
The Lutcher is closed until further notice and has temporarily suspended all public performances and events beginning today, March 17 through April 30, 2020, in compliance with orders and recommendations regarding the coronavirus and social gatherings declared by the Center for Disease Control and our federal, state and local governments.
The impacted events are:
  • Beautiful – The Carole King Musical – March 19th
  • Peter Rabbit Tales – March 25th (Lutcher Incredible Kid’s Event)
  • Fiddler on the Roof – March 30th
  • Viva Momix – April 5th
  • Service League Follies – April 17th
  • Diary of a Wombat – April 27th (Lutcher Incredible Kid’s Event)
  • Rent – April 30th
They are currently working with agents and producers attempting to reschedule events. As soon as they have “show-specific” information, the Box Office will contact the ticket holders for each show. If deemed safe to gather, and they are able to reschedule the show, your ticket for that show will be transferrable for the new date. If they are unable to reschedule or if you are unable to attend on the new date, you will be eligible for a refund.
Because so much of this information is still unknown, and because rescheduling involves decisions by several parties at various levels, they will not be able to process any refunds until final decisions are made for the remainder of the season.
The Lutcher Theater is working diligently to resolve these matters and will be in touch with you via email or phone call as soon as plans are finalized. Questions can be directed to boxoffice@lutcher.org or you may leave a voicemail at 409.886.5535. They are checking messages regularly.
