Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the 2025 Initial Training Class of the Texas Master Naturalist Program, set to begin on January 23, 2025. Nature enthusiasts and community-minded individuals are encouraged to join this engaging and educational volunteer program, which offers an opportunity to provide service and outreach in Jefferson, Orange, and Hardin Counties.
The Texas Master Naturalist Program, in partnership with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, aims to educate and equip volunteers to protect and promote the state’s natural resources. Members of the Sabine-Neches Chapter provide crucial support to these agencies through conservation projects, educational outreach, and community services.
Training and Certification Requirements:
- 40 hours of basic training, including immersive field studies
- 40 hours of volunteer service on approved projects within the first year of training (attendance at one training class is required before starting volunteer work)
- Application fee of $150, which includes the Texas Master Naturalist 760-page reference manual, a T-shirt, and an annual background check

An informational meeting will be held on January 23, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. at the Big Thicket Association Office Auditorium at 700 North Street in Beaumont. This session is open to all interested in learning more about the program before committing.
