Shangri La Gardens Hosts “Breakfast on the Bayou” Birding Excursions

Experience the beauty of Southeast Texas at sunrise with “Breakfast on the Bayou,” a family-friendly birding excursion hosted by Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center. This early morning program offers guests the chance to connect with nature while enjoying a peaceful boat ride along Adams Bayou.

Participants will embark on a slow-paced birdwatching adventure en route to the Beaver Pond outdoor classroom, where both seasoned birders and curious beginners will have opportunities to observe local wildlife in a tranquil setting.

The program includes a boxed grab-and-go breakfast with plenty of coffee to fuel the morning adventure. Binoculars and field guides will be available for use during the tour.

Program Details:

  • Dates: September 23; October 2, 4 & 7
  • Gate Opens: 7:00 a.m.
  • Boat Departs: 7:30 a.m.
  • Program Ends: 9:00 a.m.
  • Cost: $12 per person (breakfast included)
  • Age Requirement: Children must be 4 years or older
  • Activity Level: Easy, with some uneven terrain and a ½-mile hike
