Winds Favor Orange County in Voluntary Evacuation Order for Port Neches

in Local Roundup

Update as of Wednesday, December 4, 2019, for Orange County residents regarding the recommended voluntary evacuation order in Port Neches from the TPC incident. Elevated levels of 1,3-Butadiene, a chemical produced and stored at the TPC Group plant, has been detected at several monitored locations in the city from Saba Lane to Port Neches Avenue.

The National Weather Service does not anticipate any change in weather or wind direction throughout the night and DOES NOT pose a threat to Orange County residents. The higher levels of Butadiene appear to be in the immediate area around the TPC facility. Orange County officials will continue to monitor the situation and update as needed.
