In a significant move to enhance local attractions, Texla Development Group is set to introduce a tropical paradise to Southeast Texas. Bridge City Beach, a project spearheaded by Ja Cee Stanley, the director of development, is poised to become a cornerstone of the community.
“I love this area and we need points of interest,” Stanley emphasized. The creation of Bridge City Beach is not just a professional achievement for Stanley but a personal dream realized. “We have to have things to ensure communal retention. We have to have things for families to do,” she added.
The beach, located discreetly along Jones Street, might be easy to overlook at first glance. The unassuming site conceals a meticulously engineered sandpit dug below sea level to harness natural filtration and seepage from the earth. “It’s a sandpit that we have dug below sea level so we have a natural filtration system and seepage from the water coming up from the earth,” Stanley explained.
The allure of Bridge City Beach lies in its clear water and family-friendly atmosphere. “That’s why we will not have alcohol. You know, in the future there’s potential we can do the opposite side of the beach and do 21 and up,” Stanley noted, highlighting the commitment to creating a safe environment for all ages.
The project has been a collaborative effort, with invaluable contributions from local students. Kimberlyn Carter, a student at Lamar State College Orange, has played a pivotal role in the development. “She’s entrusted with me kind of helping guide the younger guys and getting everything set up and making it look a certain way, and I think it’s gonna be really cool once it’s all done,” Carter shared.
Additionally, students from LCM High School have been instrumental in bringing the vision to life. This summer, their hard work will be fully displayed for the Southeast Texas community. Visitors can look forward to a souvenir shop and a variety of refreshments, including grab-and-go fruit cups for those not interested in the food truck offerings. “We’ll have a little souvenir shop and some grab-and-go fruit cups for the people who aren’t interested in the meals at the food truck. They can go come in this souvenir shop,” Stanley mentioned.
Texla Development Group invites the public to soak up the sun and enjoy the new attraction at their soft opening, tentatively scheduled for Friday, July 12, 2024. However, that date is subject to change based on weather conditions. Watch their Facebook page for the latest info.
