The 36th Annual OCARC Fishing Tournament will take place on Saturday, August 3, 2024. The event invites anglers of all ages to compete for cash and a variety of prizes.
The weigh-in will commence at 5 p.m., with certification starting at 3 p.m., at the covered pavilion near the Orange Boat Ramp. Even those who don’t participate in fishing can enjoy the excitement of the weigh-in, as the diverse catches often bring surprises.
What sets this tournament apart is the opportunity to fish for both fresh and saltwater species. There are 12 categories of fish that could earn participants a check. The entry fee is $30, and registration forms are available at OCARC on Park St. in Orange. The tournament officially kicks off at 5 p.m. on August 2, allowing enthusiasts to fish overnight.
Tournament director John Thomas is particularly enthusiastic about involving young anglers. Every child who participates in the weigh-in receives a trophy and stands a chance to win additional prizes, fostering a family-friendly atmosphere and encouraging the next generation of fishing enthusiasts.
