Starting March 3, 2020, the Orange County landfill will return to normal operations with a few changes.
1. No longer will you need a punch card (all existing punch cards will be good until the end of Dec 2020).
2. No longer will you need a county sticker on your front windshield. Your registration on your vehicle says Orange. If you come in a different vehicle your driver’s license showing your home address will work.
3. The landfill will be accepting cash. No longer will anyone be turned around for not having a card or sticker as long as you have cash and a valid DL with your home address being in Orange County.
In the images below, you can note the days of operation, prices and what items are accepted. Appliances are accepted but must have Freon removed.
The landfill will remain free of charge through March 2, 2020. It is open Monday – Saturday.
The City of Orange Planning and Community Development Department is now taking orders for the purchase of decorative streetlights in the Old Orange Historic District or the Dupont Homes/Bennett Addition historic district. Only homeowners and businesses located in either of these historic districts are eligible to purchase the decorative streetlights through the City of Orange. The streetlights are the same size and style as the existing decorative streetlights in the historic districts.
Interested persons may pick up a Decorative Streetlight Purchase Agreement from the Planning and Community Development Department at 303 N. 8th Street. When submitting the application, a deposit of $1,527 dollars must be made at the time the agreement is submitted to the department. The department will mark each agreement with the date and time that the agreement and deposit were submitted. If there are more requests for streetlights than the City has budgeted, then the orders will be submitted to the manufacturer on a “first come, first served” basis. If the actual purchase price of the streetlight is different from the deposit, then the City and the applicant will settle the difference before the streetlight is installed.
The City will be responsible for the installation of the streetlight(s) and they will be placed at the curb to maintain consistency in the historic districts. The applicant will be responsible for the costs to connect the electricity to the streetlight(s) after installation and responsible for any electric bills after the streetlight is connected.

It is for this reason that they have invited WORLD RENEW, also known as “THE GREEN SHIRTS” into our community. World Renew Green Shirt volunteers are eager to meet with you personally to help you with your tropical storm-related needs. They will be available to meet with you individually to gather data and prioritize your needs so Orange County Disaster Rebuild can connect you with the resources you may need.
World Renew will open up two walk-in centers for two weeks in Orange County starting on Monday, January 20, 2020, through Friday, January 31, 2020, from 9 am to 4 pm and one Saturday 9 am – 1 pm.
One walk-in center will be located at the Orange County Convention & Expo Center at 11475 FM 1442; Orange, Texas 77630, and the other one will be located at Nehemiah’s Vision Main Office located at 460 Main Street; Vidor, Texas 77662.
World Renew volunteers may also be working door-to-door in the affected areas between 9:30 am – 4:00 pm during each week. These volunteers will be wearing dark green shirts and carrying identification.
