They are a full-service salon and spa, now under the new ownership and management of Misty Bornholdt-Winder. Located next door to Planet Fitness and behind Weinerschnitzel in Orange, TX, they are willing to take walk-ins but encourage appointments to have your choice of day and time for any salon service. They offer hair care, massage, skincare, and lashes.

Three community-driven organizations, Just A-Lil Help, The Salvation Army of Orange County, and Destiny Church in partnership with Texana Toyota, are joining forces to ensure no family in Orange County goes without a proper Thanksgiving meal this holiday season. With the generous support of local sponsors and volunteers, the annual food distribution events will take place on November 21, 2024, and November 23, 2024, providing crucial assistance to residents in need.

November 21, 2024, Thanksgiving Food Distribution by The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army of Orange County kicks off the season of giving with its annual Thanksgiving Food Distribution on Thursday, November 21, 2024, starting at 9:00 AM. The event will operate on a first-come, first-served basis, continuing until supplies run out. The drive-thru-only format will ensure the safety and convenience of participants, allowing them to remain in their vehicles while volunteers load food supplies.

On Saturday, November 23, 2024, Just A-Lil Help will host its annual Thanksgiving Knock-Out event aimed at “knocking out hunger” in the City of Orange. The drive-thru food distribution will occur at the Orange Church of God – Embassy of Grace from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Families are advised to arrive early, as the distribution is limited to three families per vehicle, and a valid ID is required to receive food supplies.

Stark Museum of Art Announces College Juried Art Exhibition Winners

The Stark Museum of Art proudly announces the winners of its annual College Juried Art Exhibition, showcasing the exceptional talent of 15 student artists from Lamar University and McNeese State University. The exhibition, on view now through December 20, 2024, features works selected by a distinguished juror and highlights creativity across various mediums.

This year’s Best of Show Award was presented to Taylor Balsano from Lamar University for her thought-provoking piece, “Untitled,” which juxtaposes a bear (symbolizing nature) against a wallpaper-like background (representing the human-built environment). The juror praised the piece’s compelling contrast between nature and humanity, noting its evocative and layered meaning. Balsano received a $500 Blick Art Materials gift certificate for her accomplishment.

In addition, two Honorable Mentions were awarded:

  • Nelly Gonzalez Chan of McNeese State University for her painting, “Circle of Life,” which the juror described as “striking at first glance” and visually captivating, inviting viewers to analyze each element within the “vanitas” composition.
  • Angela de la Rosa of Lamar University for her untitled painting, celebrated by the juror for its impactful color palette, which conveys a uniquely alternative tone.

Each Honorable Mention recipient received a $100 Blick Art Materials gift certificate courtesy of Blick Art Materials.

The 2024 College Juried Art Exhibition features the following 15 artists:
