Phlebotomy Course at Lamar State College Orange

Course Dates/Times: February 3, 2020 – March 23, 2020 (Monday Only) Class Times: 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm – Clinical Dates TBA

Other fees (approximate): $40 Background Check; $5 Student ID, and $40 scrubs (to be worn at clinicals only)
Course Requirements: Copy of immunization record, TB test and the Hepatitis B vaccine series required prior to being assigned to clinicals.
The course will be held in the Academic Center – Room AC220
Back-Ground Check – Prior to the first day of class, you will need to complete your Background Check at www.precheck.com. You will need to complete a “Student Check” and select “Lamar State College Orange Allied Health” when asked which school.
Student ID – You will need to get a student ID from LSCO prior to beginning clinicals as this will be used as your ID Badge. These can be purchased on the 3rd Floor of the Ron Lewis Library after paying for the course.
Wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes to class

Phlebotomy 4th Edition Worktext and Procedures Manual
Authors: Robin S Warekois and Richard Robinson
This 72 hour Phlebotomy course offers 32 classroom hours comprised of theory and “hands-on” training, as well as scheduling for 40 hours of clinical time. Topics such as but not limited to, equipment, technique, safety and infection control are covered in the required book. Practice begins on training devices and graduates to live skin. Techniques taught consist of capillary puncture, syringe, vacutainer, winged infusion sets and blood culture draws. On the completion of all course requirements a Certificate of Completion will be awarded.
